Our campaign is really starting to make a noise. We were in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph this week, and the Council are definitely aware that the community is very unhappy with the proposals. See the article here - https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/20080362.blackburns-issa-brothers-green-belt-land-ambition-sparks-protest/?fbclid=IwAR0KS4AHlE8yikzAUhG_CtlaU8RdhsBSklScwu3Qw9sDnMk7eV2Fm__879U
This week the Council also announced that it saw no need to undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment as there were no real environmental issues to be concerned with with Darwen Council’s Strategic Director of Place Martin Kelly has ruled it does not need an EIA. He said: “In the opinion of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council the proposal is unlikely to have significant effects on the environment, by virtue of the scale, location and nature of the development. On this basis, I can confirm it is the opinion of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council that the proposed development would not be subject to an Environmental Impact Assessment.”
WE DISAGREE! And, with the help of our Planning Consultant, will be taking this further with the Council.
In a bit of good news this week, the Planning Consultant who is helping us with our case, has had a major win on a similar proposal in Bredbury which also involved building industrial units on Green Belt land. The Planning Inspector in that case was persuaded by the residents' and consultant's arguments, and we believe that similar circumstances apply in our case. Just in case you think our voice doesn't matter, have a read of this and realise that it does! https://www.cprecheshire.org.uk/news/success-in-opposing-green-belt-expansion-of-bredbury-industrial-estate/?fbclid=IwAR1akIeUU_3285hFVgYQzQfoCHj5nXm_hoLvGidTboNsri6dFL656VedNw0
